Top Tips

Johnson and Johnson are a very well-known brand and as such competition is high to join our placement and graduate programmes. So here are some top tips to make sure you show your best side.

At Application:

  • Be clear and concise; try to keep to no more than a two page CV.
  • Highlight your achievements and skills, making them easily accessible within the text.
  • Take time to make sure your CV and answers to our application questions are accurate and paint a compelling picture of your skills, experience and achievements.
  • Tell us why you want to work for Johnson & Johnson and how we fit with your career aspirations.
  • Do your research!

At Online Assessments:

  • Practice your assessments in advance. Your careers service will offer this service or alternatively you can find useful practice tests on the Saville Assessment website.
  • Make sure you are in a quiet environment where you will not be interrupted before you take the assessments
  • Ensure you have a calculator, lots of rough paper, a few pens and a watch before you start.

Video Interview:

  • This is an interactive tool whereby you will read the question and have around 30 seconds to consider your answer before the recording starts

Making the most of your video interview

  • Ensure you are in a quiet place with no background noise
  • Check your microphone and camera are working sufficiently

Interview Technique:

  • Draw on a broad range of examples from your experiences so far, these can be anything from academic, work, sport, social or other extra-curricular experiences.
  • Don’t be afraid to take your time to think about the answers to the questions and ensure they best reflect your abilities. Short silences are perfectly normal.

Assessment Centre Tips:

  • Be yourself. We appreciate that these are high pressure environments, but do not feel compelled to act in a certain way, we want to see the real you.
  • Our assessment center exercises are designed to identify the skills you need to be successful in Johnson & Johnson. Make sure you get fully engaged in each activity to ensure you get the most out of it.
  • Please feel free to ask questions during the recruitment process, this is as much about us identifying if you are a good fit for Johnson & Johnson as it is you deciding if this is the place for you.
  • Johnson & Johnson has a unique culture and working ethos in line with our Credo. It is important you understand our business and prepare to engage in effective discussion with our assessors on the day.
  • Treat the recruitment process as a development experience; you may be surprised by what you learn about yourself.
  • Our Leadership Imperatives are behaviours/competencies that we expect to see in our employees at all levels, so it is worth taking the time to consider how you can demonstrate these skills.
